Position Summary
We are seeking a Machine Operator - Converting who is responsible for the setup, operation, and cleanup of converting equipment to produce finished goods that meet quality and production standards. This role ensures equipment runs at optimal performance, production schedules are met, and safety and housekeeping standards are consistently maintained.
We are also seeking a Machine Operator – Extrusion who is responsible for the startup, operation, adjustment, and shutdown of extrusion lines. This role ensures products are manufactured according to specifications, machine settings are properly maintained, and production data is accurately recorded.
We work 12-hour shifts (either days or nights, No rotating) on a 2-2-3 schedule, which gives every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off.
Key Responsibilities
Converting
Set up, operate, and monitor converting machines in accordance with production specifications and work instructions
Verify product quality throughout production by conducting visual and measurement checks and making necessary adjustments
Maximize equipment utilization by operating machinery at established speed and capacity targets
Accurately complete production reports, including production counts, downtime, quality data, and machine status updates
Review production schedules and coordinate machine changeovers to meet cost, quality, and service goals
Identify and communicate maintenance needs; submit work orders and proactively support equipment upkeep
Train, guide, and support First and Second Helpers to ensure safe and efficient machine operation
Cross-train on additional converting lines to support operational flexibility
Maintain compliance with all safety procedures, company policies, and housekeeping standards
Assist with material handling and perform other duties as assigned to support production objectives
Extrusion
Start up and shut down extrusion lines in accordance with standard operating procedures
Operate and adjust extruders, dies, haul-offs, saws, heaters, tanks, and auxiliary equipment
Monitor machine controls and adjust motor RPM, temperature settings, and die configurations to maintain product specifications
Conduct on-line product inspections and verify finished goods meet established quality standards before release to inventory
Record machine settings, production output, scrap levels, and downtime in designated computer systems
Maintain familiarity with product standards and manufacturing specifications
Identify process deviations and implement corrective adjustments to ensure safe and efficient operation
Assist in training and mentoring entry-level operators
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area in compliance with company policies
Required Qualifications:
Converting
High school diploma or GED
Minimum six (6) months of experience in a manufacturing or production environment
Ability to read and follow production instructions, factory masters, and job tickets
Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to read a tape measure accurately and calculate percentages, measurements, and rates
Ability to apply practical problem-solving skills in a structured production setting
Willingness to rotate responsibilities with team members as needed to support production flow
Extrusion
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to operate industrial equipment with minimal supervision following training
Basic computer skills for data entry and production reporting
Mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand machine controls and warning systems
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and perform physical tasks associated with machine operation
Preferred Qualifications:
Converting
Prior experience operating converting or packaging equipment
Experience performing duties equivalent to a machine helper or load former
Forklift certification or ability to obtain lift truck operator license
Extrusion
Prior experience operating extrusion equipment
Experience performing die changes and machine setup adjustments
Experience in a manufacturing environment involving temperature-controlled processes

May occasionally sit as needed
Must have close, distance, color, and peripheral vision with the ability to adjust focus
Extrusion
Frequent standing, walking, reaching, and use of hands for machine adjustments
Occasional stooping, kneeling, and crouching
Regular lifting up to 25 pounds and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds
Vision capabilities required for quality inspection and machine monitoring

Frequent exposure to humidity, noise, and manufacturing conditions
Occasional exposure to vibration, airborne particles, and elevated work areas
