Job Description
As a Machinist at Atlas Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, located in Chicago, IL, you will play a vital role in supporting our production operations through precision machining, maintenance, and setup of tools and equipment. This position is ideal for individuals with strong mechanical aptitude and a commitment to safety who enjoy hands-on, detail-oriented work in an industrial manufacturing environment.

What You’ll Do
- Lay out work and set up machining operations according to specifications.
- Experience with a manual lathe required.
- Experience with Bridgeport milling.
- Operate machine tools and fabricate or repair parts to required standards.
- Ensure accuracy and precision in all machining and assembly tasks.
- Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on machinery and related equipment.
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies to maintain a safe work environment.
- Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to support continuous operations.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
- Work rotational shifts and overtime as needed to meet production demands.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Who You Are
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and proven problem-solving skills.
- Excellent work ethic and commitment to maintaining safety standards.
- Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as required.
- Solid employment history with verifiable professional references.
- Must successfully complete a post-offer physical, background check, and drug test.
- Knowledge of repair and maintenance in an industrial setting preferred.
Physical Abilities
- Regularly lift and/or carry 50+ pounds.
- Proficient with hand and power tools, including Bridgeport and lathe equipment.
- Must be able to stand and walk for at least 95% of the shift.
