Position Summary
The Machinist II independently operates established CNC Mill or Lathe work and performs routine adjustments and basic setup tasks within demonstrated training. This position reads production documentation, verifies parts, responds to normal tool wear, and maintains consistent quality and output with limited supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Operation & Setup Support
• Operate assigned CNC equipment independently on established jobs and maintain expected cycle flow.
• Load programs, locate setup documentation, verify tools and workholding, and assist with or perform basic repeat setups when authorized.
• Replace worn inserts or approved tools, enter tool wear adjustments, and make routine offsets within assigned authority.
• Complete proper startup, warm-up, shutdown, changeover, and shift-handoff activities.
Quality & Process Control
• Read drawings and job documentation to identify dimensions, tolerances, material, revision, and inspection frequency.
• Perform and document in-process inspection using appropriate measuring tools and gauges.
• Recognize tool wear, chatter, finish changes, chip-control problems, or dimensional trends and respond within training.
• Contain questionable product and promptly communicate quality or process concerns.
Production, Safety & Communication
• Maintain accurate ERP labor, quantity, scrap, and job-status information.
• Communicate tooling, material, equipment, quality, and schedule roadblocks early.
• Follow required PPE, machine guarding, lockout/tagout, chip and coolant handling, lifting, housekeeping, and other machine-shop safety requirements.
• Stop work and report unsafe conditions, damaged tooling, machine alarms, unusual noise, leaks, or quality concerns.
• Maintain an orderly work area and complete assigned basic machine-care and cleaning tasks.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Demonstrated proficiency in Machinist I responsibilities.
• Ability to operate CNC equipment with limited supervision and perform routine tool and offset adjustments.
• Working knowledge of blueprints, tolerances, basic shop math, ERP reporting, and precision measurement.
• Ability to recognize abnormal machining conditions and seek appropriate technical support.
Performance Expectations
• Runs established work independently and maintains consistent quality.
• Uses inspection tools correctly and documents required checks.
• Makes only trained and authorized adjustments.
• Communicates roadblocks early and supports reliable shift handoffs.
Physical & Work Environment
• Work is performed in an active machine shop with moving equipment, noise, chips, coolants, metalworking fluids, and changing temperatures.
• Requires regular standing, walking, bending, reaching, handling parts and tooling, and close visual inspection.
• Must be able to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds and use team-lifting or mechanical assistance for heavier items.
• Required PPE and all applicable safe-work procedures must be followed.

Employment Details
-Full-time, Day Shift 6:00 am to 2:30 pm with overtime opportunities
