About this role

Innophos Inc., a leading international producer of specialty ingredient solutions, is hiring a Maintenance Mechanic for our Nashville facility.

This role involves performing essential maintenance tasks throughout the plant, including regular and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, analysis, and repair of assets and related components within our phosphate production facility. We are looking for a dedicated individual with a strong background in mechanical maintenance, including millwright work, welding, fabrication, and pipefitting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and discuss daily work orders pertaining to removing, repairing, and installing machinery and equipment in the field
  • Communicate with unit operations to ensure work site has been prepared to avoid interfering with activities of other workers
  • Follow life critical procedures; Lock out tag out, line entry, burning grinding and welding, critical lift and confined space entry.
  • Dismantles the failed equipment (motors, pumps, etc.) using hand and power tools such as hammers, wrenches, crowbars, etc. transport to the shop using hoist, lift trucks and dollies
  • Assess failed equipment, rebuild and assemble equipment with new parts.
  • Re-install machinery after prepping and rebuilding
  • Align machines and equipment using laser alignment tools.
  • Perform check for leaks and ensure equipment is operating efficiently
  • Execute millwright tasks including precision alignment, leveling, and installation of machinery.
  • Perform rigging operations safely and efficiently for moving and positioning heavy equipment.
  • Operate mobile cranes, forklifts and manlifts to assist with maintenance and repair activities.

  • This is primarily a position for Day Shift Mechanic: 1st shift (6:30 am - 2:30 pm) Monday - Friday
  • Or
    • Rotating Shift Mechanic: 1st shift (6:30 am - 2:30 pm), 2nd shift (2:30 pm - 10:30 pm), 3rd shift (10:30 pm - 6:30 am) Monday – Sunday
        • Initially assigned to 1st shift for training for 6 months, then will be assigned to 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift based on business needs. May move to another shift schedule based on availability and plant seniority.
        • Alternative work schedules may be required based on site business needs.
        • Eligible for overtime pay on hours worked that exceed 8/day, 8 consecutive and 40/week

    Required Education and Experience

  • Must have High School Diploma or equivalent and one year certificate from college or technical school or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3-5 years of directly related experience in millwright, welding, fabrication, pipefitting, or a combination of these trades within an industrial setting.
  • Proven experience with crane and forklift operations
  • Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and instructions in the use and maintenance of shop tools and equipment, and methods and procedures in mechanical drawing and layout
  • Read and understand engineering drawings
  • Ability to perform complex rigging as required during the course of repair or replacement of equipment.
  • Write reports and summaries with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar
  • Ability to follow Good Manufacturing Practices including the proper wearing of clean protective clothing, following personal hygiene standards, and adherence to food/drink/tobacco restrictions
  • Proficiency in TIG, MIG, and Stick welding.
  • Strong fabrication skills.
  • Solid understanding of industrial pipefitting techniques.
  • Mechanical troubleshooting expertise, especially with pumps, motors, and rotating equipment.
  • Perform pipefitting duties, including cutting, threading, bending, and installing various types of piping systems.
  • Experience with pump repair, overhaul, and installation is a significant advantage.

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Frequent lifting, squatting, standing, bending, and walking
  • Work involves indoor and outdoor climate hot/cold temperatures
  • Able to wear a respirator (must comply with facial hair policy) and other required personal protective equipment
