Position Summary

The Manager of Individual Giving & Development Operations is a key member of the JFCS Development team responsible for strengthening the organization's annual fundraising program, donor stewardship infrastructure, and individual giving strategy. This position bridges fundraising operations, strategy and frontline donor engagement, ensuring that systems, data, and stewardship practices support meaningful donor relationships and sustainable philanthropic growth.

Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Manager will oversee the annual fund, optimize donor management systems and processes, develop donor stewardship and move-management strategies, and manage a portfolio of individual donors. As part of a small, collaborative fundraising team, the Manager will work closely with colleagues across leadership and development to support donor acquisition, retention, engagement, and revenue growth from individual and institutional donors.



Key Responsibilities

Individual Giving Strategy

  • Provides leadership ingoal setting and strategy developmentfor individual giving solicitations.
  • Creates and executes an
    annual work plan, including asolicitationtimeline and program outlines, to ensure the effective andtimelysolicitation of donors.
  • Develops creativedonor engagement strategiesthat strengthen relationships.
  • Designs and manages
    fundraising activitiesrelated to individual givingin order toreach the organization's financial goals(e.g.,direct mail, online giving, sustainer programs, and workplace giving campaigns).
  • Leads the planning, execution, and evaluation of the organization'sannual fund programincluding strategies to increase donor acquisition, retention, participation, and revenue and coordinating multi-channel campaigns.
  • Tracks fundraising progresstoward established goals and prepares regular reports on results and strategies.
  • Analyzescampaign performance and donor trends to inform strategy and decision-making.
  • Buildsand managesstewardship plansfor individual donors.
  • Coordinatesdonor cultivation activities withexecutive leadershiponmajor gift pipelines.
  • Support the President and CEO
    and other leadership team members in stewardingtheir donor portfolios.
  • Monitors donor
    movement through the engagement cycleand recommend next-step strategies to prepare for higher gifts.
  • Coordinates the identification of donors and prospects with the capacity and inclination to increase their giving or to support specific initiatives.

Development Operations and Systems

  • Servesasprimaryowner fordevelopment operations processesand donor stewardship tracking.
  • Designs, document, and regularly reviewdepartmental policies,proceduresand workflows to ensure operational efficiency and adherence to best practices, including systems that supportdonor segmentation,movesmanagement, solicitation planning, and stewardship activities.
  • Developsandmaintainsa comprehensiveprospect management systemtooptimizethe cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual donors; oversees the integration of prospect rating, wealth screening, and prospect management tools into departmental workflows.
  • Developsdashboards, reports, and performance metricsto track fundraising progress and donor engagement.
  • Ensuresconsistent and effective use of fundraising systemsand toolsby colleagues.
  • SupervisesDevelopment Associate & Database Administrator and other assigned staff, ensuring effective management of donor data, gift and pledge processing, acknowledgment, prospect research, and financial reporting.
  • Partners with the Database Administrator to optimizeRaiser’s Edge functionality, data integrity, reporting, and user adoption.
  • Advancesa culture of philanthropy at JFCS.

Donor Relations

  • Manages aportfolio of individual donors and prospectswith the capacity for annual and mid-level gifts; develops individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans for assigned donors.
  • Conductsdonor outreachthrough meetings, calls, personalized communications, and stewardship activitiesand documents interactionsand strategies within Raiser’s Edge.
  • Overseesthe implementation of JFCS's acknowledgment process to ensuretimely, personalized, and donor-centered acknowledgments across all giving levels.
  • Works with CDO and Communications Officer to develop donor-centered messaging so supporters have a clear understanding of the impact of their gifts in our community.
  • In partnership with CDO and Communications Officer, designsand implementsan annual fundraisingcommunications plan including appeals, donor newsletters, impact reports, web content, social media, and special campaigns.
  • Plans and oversees donor recognition and cultivation events to honor contributions and increase awareness of JFCS's mission and funding needs.

Requirements andQualifications

  • Bachelor's degreerequiredin business administration, nonprofit management, communications, or other related fields.
  • Minimum of five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experiencerelated to fundraising,annual fundmanagementand individual giving.
  • Knowledge of and experience with fundraising techniques and best practices, including moves management, direct mail, and online giving programs.
  • Demonstrated experience working with fundraising CRMs and donor management systems.
  • Experience managing donor portfolios and cultivating individual donor relationships.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively; adept at problem solving and sound judgment.
    • Excellent organizational skillsanddemonstratedleadership skills and ability to manage multi-phase projects frominceptionto completion, including balancing multiple concurrent priorities.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret fundraising data and generate actionable insights.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong oral and written communication abilities.
    • Experience supervising staff and the ability to collaborate across teams and build consensus.
    • Ability to travel independently to meet with prospects, donors, and community partners.
