Position Summary

Under the direction of the Grand Chief’s Office, Chief of Staff, the Manitoba Hydro Liaison position will be the main point of contact between Manitoba Hydro and AMC. On behalf of the Grand Chief’s Office, the position will lead and facilitate engagement activity with AMC and AMC Member First Nations on broad-based Manitoba Hydro policy issues.



Key Responsibilities

  • On behalf of AMC, lead and help facilitate communication between AMC and Manitoba
  • Be a dedicated resource to help advance the development of a cooperative and collaborative working relationship between the AMC and AMC member First Nations with Manitoba Hydro, including engaging on various broad-based Manitoba Hydro-related
  • Engage with AMC Member First Nations about topics related to Manitoba’s energy transition and energy future, including the Integrated Resource Plan, ongoing energy planning activities, energy poverty and affordability, the operation of the hydroelectric system, and other broad-based policy issues.
  • Help AMC, AMC member First Nations, and Manitoba Hydro better understand and address any concerns raised in its engagement processes and help try to resolve any issues identified.
  • Develop, undertake, and coordinate, as required, surveys, focus groups, information sessions, and other opportunities to both share and receive information with AMC and AMC Member First Nations about topics related to the energy transition and other broad policy issues.
  • Communicate regularly with AMC and Manitoba Hydro representatives and provide reports to AMC and Manitoba Hydro regarding engagement-related interests and

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Degree and/or experience in the environmental or economic
  • Knowledge of AMC’s clean energy approach and position regarding Manitoba Hydro, and knowledge about Manitoba Hydro and relevant Manitoba Hydro policies related to First Nations.
  • Knowledge and interest in federal and provincial energy
  • Knowledge of First Nations’ culture, history, Treaty and inherent
  • Knowledge and understanding of the AMC, and of AMC Member First Nations, and First Nations organizations in Manitoba.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide analytical support while managing multiple projects, and deadlines.
  • Experience working with AMC member First Nations in the clean energy sector and engaging with First Nations and First Nations youth in Manitoba.
  • Experience in analysis and communicating technical information with a focus on non- technical audiences.
  • Excellent ability to use Ability to analyze and/or prepare financial statements and budgets.
  • Must be motivated and passionate about serving the First Nations of


Additional Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge of social media platforms.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and travel as
