About the Role

Orange Youth Academy is seeking a dependable and attentive Key Control (Master Control Operator) to monitor and control facility access, security systems, and the movement of youth, staff, and visitors throughout the facility.

This position plays an important role in maintaining a safe, secure, and well-organized environment by monitoring daily operations, maintaining accurate documentation, and communicating important information to the appropriate team members.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and control access to and from the facility.
• Answer and place telephone calls and direct information to the appropriate staff members.
• Maintain knowledge of facility staff, staff locations, and program routines.
• Control and document the entrance and exit of visitors.
• Maintain accurate documentation of youth and staff departures, off-site trips, appointments, and returns.
• Authorize, monitor, and document youth movement throughout the facility.
• Monitor facility video surveillance systems.
• Maintain an accurate log of all staff entering and leaving the facility.
• Monitor fence, fire, security, and other facility alarm systems.
• Communicate emergencies and security concerns to the appropriate staff members.
• Notify the appropriate supervisor when paperwork, court orders, or other important documents are received.

Other Duties Include

• Complete perimeter checks at the beginning and end of each assigned shift.
• Maintain accurate logs, reports, and other required documentation.
• Follow all facility safety, security, confidentiality, and reporting procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year of experience working with at-risk youth or in a monitoring or control role within an institutional or residential setting.
• Ability to think and act independently while following established policies and procedures.
• Advanced oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to remain alert, organized, and attentive in a highly structured environment.

Physical Demands

• Must be in good physical health and emotionally stable.
• Must be able to move throughout the facility and surrounding property.
• Must be able to participate in youth activities as required.
• Must be able to transport youth or staff when necessary.
• Must be free of communicable diseases as defined by the state and to the extent that such information is attainable under applicable law.
• Must be able to pass the PAR evaluation of physical techniques and the required written certification examination.

Other Requirements

• Must maintain an appropriate and valid state driver’s license.
• Must meet all state criminal background check requirements.
• Must successfully complete all required pre-employment screenings and training requirements.
