Master thesis – Development of printed sensors

During the spring of 2027you will be in Sandviken to learn from theworld leaders in materials.

The assignment

Alleima Strategic Research is exploring how industrial sensors can be manufactured using a novel printing technology. The thesis will focus on the electrical characterization of electrical and electronic devices, including measurements of current,voltageand capacitance. A key part of the assignment will be topreparethe measurement setup; for example.configurethe data acquisition equipment, solder/weld signalwiresand experimental planning.Thedatawill beanalysedusing tools such as Excel, Minitab,Matlabor similar software. Depending on the scope and direction of the project, the work may also include material analysis to further evaluate the printed sensor structures and their performance.

The location for this assignment is Sandviken, as this is a practical, hands-on assignment.

Your profile

We are looking for a student at theMaster’slevel inElectrical/Electronic Engineering, Signal Processing, Technical or Industrial Metrology, or from alternative disciplines if the appropriate knowledge has been acquired elsewhere, where youhave gained relevant knowledge from courses in electromagnetism, metrology, and basic metallurgy.Applicantswith a B. Sc. may be considered if the prerequisites aremet.Good writtenandspoken communication skillsinEnglisharerequiredasyou must be able tocomprehendtechnical and scientific articles in English, Swedish is a plus.Previousexperience in electromagnetic device characterization is meritorious.

Your personal qualities are essential for this role. You see scientific and technical challenges as opportunities to explore ratherthan asproblems or obstacles. Youenjoypractical, hands-onwork and, afterinitialtraining, are comfortable working independently. You are also encouraged to propose alternative approaches or scientificpaths when relevant, while documenting all observations meticulously throughout the assignment.
