Master thesis: Empirical and finite element modelling of hot working

Stålforskning 61RemoteFull-time

AI Summary

Master's thesis student developing empirical and finite element models to predict process forces in hot working of stainless steels and special alloys, using industrial data to fit and validate analytical and flow stress models.

About this role

Location

Stålforskning 61, Sweden

Are you interested in combining advanced materials science, simulation, and data-driven modeling to solve real industrial challenges?

At Alleima, we are looking for a motivatedMaster’sthesis student to help developaccuratemodels for predicting forces in hot working processes, which is a key to producing high-performance stainless steels and special alloys.

About the Thesis

Hot working is at the core of our production of tubes, bars, andstrip. Processes such as rolling, forging, and extrusion shape materials while simultaneously refining their microstructure through thermo-mechanical processing. To ensureoptimalproduct quality and efficient production, we rely onaccuratemodels that can predict process forces, temperature windows, andfeasiblereductions.

The main goal of this thesis is to develop and improve models for predicting process forces during hotworking.A central part of the work will be to:

  • Use measured industrial process data to fit andvalidateanalytical models

  • Develop or calibrate flow stress models, which are essential inputs for force predictions

About You

We are looking for acurious and motivatedMaster’sstudent inEngineering Physics, Materials Science,Mechanical Engineering, ora similar field, who is eager to apply theoretical knowledge to real industrial challenges.
