The Maternal/Child Nursing Assistant works under the supervision of the Registered Nurse andis responsibleto the Maternity Center Manager.In this role, you willactivelyparticipatein patient care routines,assistingwith activities of daily living and specific technical tasks with consideration for the age of the patient.Some of your day-to-day responsibilities will includescrubbing in for c-sections, stockingroomsand working in the nursery.This is a cohesive team that thrives on teamwork and celebrateseach other's wins each day.This opportunitywill help you to advance your skills and knowledge with each interaction as you will float to other units. Acaregiver in this positionworksrotating days/nightsfrom 7:00AM – 7:30PM or 7:00PM – 7:30AM, including every other weekend and rotating holidays.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Providequality care in acustomer-focused,considerate manner respecting the patient’s rights.

• Document care provided following established guidelines.

• Function as the scrub tech for surgical procedures completedonthe Obstetrical Department/Maternity Center and perform sterile surgical preps.

• Complete indirect care activities including preparation and storage of surgical instruments, equipment and supplies needed for the efficient operation of all areas of the nursing unit and all other duties as assigned.

• Assistwith processing patient admissions,transfersand discharges.

• Respond to patient call lights so thatappropriate follow-through.

• Provide concierge service toassistpatients and familieswith finding awayfindinganddirectingthem to available resources.

• Assemble andmaintainpatient medical records and other documents related to patient care.

• Prepare for operative procedures on the Maternity Center andpracticesteriletechniquethroughoutentireoperative procedure.

• Assistwith the opening of sterile and non-sterile supplies in preparation for a procedure.

• Collaborate with other members of the health care team to providethe bestpatient care.

• Communicate pertinent observations including signs and symptoms of abuse and pain to the RN.

• Respond and intervenetoemergent situations appropriately.

• Transcribe physician orders.

• Complete necessary forms,requisitionsand communications with attention to detail and accuracyand transcribe physician orders.

• Maintain patient medicalrecordsinappropriateand sequentialorderandfilereportsinan accurate,timelymanner.

• Assistwith unit clerical functions.

• Assistin troubleshooting equipment failures such as callsystem, portable phones,WOWsand other unit devices.

• Restock various areas of the Maternity Center andfollowsup routinely toassuresupplies are readily availablein patientcare areas.

• Communicateclearly andexhibitappropriate follow-upto prevent service delays.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma/GED

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Microsoft Office experience

• Experience as an aid,STNA or in healthcare
