The Role

The successful candidate will be a key member of the Mechanical, Thermal and Propulsion (MTP) team and will help develop robotic subsystems for ClearSpace's future space missions.


Role Responsibilities

  • Developing core robotic technologies to address a wide variety of in-orbit services, including (but not limited to) cooperative and non-cooperative capture, docking, inspection, refuelling, repair, life-extension, and assembly.
  • Work with an interdisciplinary team to create new robotic products including specification, design, prototyping, validation and testing
  • Manage mechanical and thermal interfaces
  • Establish mechanical drawings
  • Prepare and execute functional performance and environmental tests
  • Document design and test activities
  • Supporting the development of world-class robotics simulation and testing capabilities and facilities.
  • Defining ClearSpace's robotics products, with particular emphases on modularity and scalability.
  • Interfacing with customers, partners and subcontractors.



Must Have

  • 5+ years experience of mechanisms engineering within the space industry.
  • Experience throughout engineering lifecycle (system definition, design, build, test, and on-orbit operations)
  • Experience with subcontractor management
  • Comfortable interacting with customers, both institutional (LSA, ESA) and commercial
  • (BSc/MSc) Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Engineering or similar.
