Cleveland Clinic in Florida offers a full spectrum of treatment options for patients suffering chronic and acute pain from disease,surgeryor trauma. The department is directed by anesthesiologists who are board-certified in pain management. By joining the Pain Management team as a Medical Assistant, you will collaborate with fellow staff to create a welcoming, comfortable environment for patients,familiesand visitors. You willassistwith rooming patients, answering in-basket messages,helping the provider with proceduresand scheduling outpatient procedures.Allyour work helps ensure the best possible health outcomes. A caregiver in this position works Monday-Friday from 8:00AM – 4:30PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Assistwith performing screening and treatments by gathering information related to health maintenance, collectingspecimensand documenting patient care.
Update health maintenance at patient visits, accuratelyidentifymedicationchangesand update allergy information at each visit.
Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition.
Administer specific medications under the direction of the provider.
Maintain equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking,cleaningand troubleshooting.
Maintain examination areas.
Assistin pre-visit planning by updating the health maintenance tab.
Perform administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, dataentryand patient registration.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited Medical Assisting Program
Military training as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered
Currentdemonstratedclinicalproficiency
Completion of a clinical externship OR extensive clinical experience
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Crossrequiredwithin new hire period
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
CMA, NCMA or CCMA certification
Successful completion of a CC Externship
Physical Requirements:
- Manual dexterity to operate office equipment.
- May require extended periods of standing, walking or sitting.
- Good visual acuity through normal or corrected vision.
- Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.
- Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.
- Note: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.
