Position Summary: The Medical Director will oversee psychiatric services, provide clinical leadership, and ensure that all services meet Maryland Medicaid and federal regulations under 42 CFR § 440.90. This role includes direct client care, telehealth evaluations, and supervision of medical necessity for ongoing services. Flexible scheduling and remote options are available.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide medical direction and assume clinical responsibility for all outpatient mental health services.
- Complete initial psychiatric evaluations (telehealth acceptable) and prescribe care as needed.
- Periodically review treatment plans and assess ongoing medical necessity.
- Collaborate with therapists, CRNPs, and support staff to ensure high-quality care.
- Serve as the point of contact for audits, quality assurance, and compliance inquiries.Ensure alignment with COMAR, CARF, and federal Medicaid regulations.
- Participate in occasional staff training or case consultations.
Qualifications
- MD or DO licensed to practice in the State of Maryland.
- Board Certified in Psychiatry (ABPN) OR completed an ACGME-accredited psychiatry residency.
- 2+ years of clinical experience in an outpatient or community mental health setting preferred.
- Strong understanding of Medicaid compliance and EHR documentation.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate virtually with a multidisciplinary team.
