GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Neurologist & Neurophysiologist is responsible for examining, diagnosing, and treating patients with disorders of the brain, spinal cord, and nervous system; managing conditions such as epilepsy, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, movement disorders, dementias, multiple sclerosis, and neuromuscular diseases; prescribing and monitoring treatments; performing and interpreting neurophysiological tests including EEG, EMG, and nerve conduction studies; educating patients on long‑term care; identifying serious neurological warning signs; collaborating with other medical specialists; and staying current with advancements in neurological care and neurophysiology.
Qualifications / Knowledge Requirements:
- Minimum ten years’ experience in providing Neurologist & Neurophysiologist
- Doctor of Medicine (MD or equivalent) with completed residency in Neurology
- Ability to obtain privileges to practice at The Doctors Hospital, obtain and maintain Malpractice insurance and be registered with the Medical and Dental Council of the Cayman Islands.
- Fellowship training in Clinical Neurophysiology or a related subspecialty
- Board certification or board eligibility in Neurology
- Strong clinical expertise in diagnosing and managing a wide range of neurological conditions
- Proficiency in neurophysiological testing (EEG, EMG, nerve conduction studies)
- Comprehensive knowledge of current clinical guidelines and evidence‑based neurological care
- Ability to interpret complex neurological data and make accurate clinical decisions
- Experience working in hospital or multidisciplinary clinical settings
- Strong communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and medical teams
- Familiarity with electronic medical records, hospital policies, and clinical documentation standards
