About the role

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Mine Mechanical Fitter to join our team at the AGL Loy Yang Mine. Reporting to the Electrical Coordinator, you will carry out mechanical maintenance, fault analysis and preventative maintenance to support the safe, reliable and efficient operation of mine plant. Working in a shift environment, you will use your trade expertise to complete planned, breakdown and routine work while supporting production requirements.

Please note, this is a 12-month Fixed Term opportunity.

What you'll be doing

• Carry out planned, breakdown, routine and preventative mechanical maintenance on mine plant and equipment.

• Analyse faults, assess plant problems and implement safe and effective solutions.

• Plan, schedule, complete and report maintenance activities in a dynamic production environment.

• Work closely with Production personnel to support safe, efficient and effective plant operation.

• Accurately record completed work, plant faults and shift information in the CMMS and shift logs.

• Share your skills and experience, support the development of team members.

• Follow all Health, Safety and Environment requirements, identify hazards and apply appropriate controls.

About You

You are a safety-focused mechanical tradesperson who enjoys solving problems and working as part of a team. You can adapt to changing priorities, communicate clearly with stakeholders and take ownership of delivering quality work in a complex heavy industrial environment.

What you'll bring to the table

• A Mechanical Fitting trade qualification or equivalent.

• Detailed knowledge of maintenance practices in open-cut mining or other heavy industrial plants.

• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving capability, with the ability to assess options and determine an appropriate solution.

• Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices, hazard identification and effective risk controls.

• Experience using computerised maintenance management systems.

• The ability to work proactively with minimal direction and complete tasks on time and to the required standard.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.

• A current Victorian Driver’s Licence and the ability to work shift work.

• Experience with open-cut mining equipment such as dredgers, stackers and conveyors will be highly regarded.
