Job Summary:

Mortgage Accountant I is responsible for clerical duties assigned in accordance with office procedures of the Mortgage Accounting department such as scanning and processing invoices, posting payments, preparing general ledger tickets, reconciling of general ledgers, posting journal entries, and organizing invoices.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Balancing of various daily transactions processed by branches and departments and resolve exceptions timely and accurately
• Prepare and post various accounting entries to appropriate general ledger and/or accounts required to perform daily accounting duties
• Balancing of various general ledgers accounts with subsidiary records and resolving exceptions timely and accurately
• Review and approval of daily Wire requests
• Monthly Reconciliations of various mortgage accounts
• Reviewer and facilitator of all mortgage related Invoices to Corporate Accounts Payable Dept.
• Liaison to Vendors for W-9 requests and Corporate Accounts Payable Dept.
• Perform research requested by management, auditors, customers and/or other employees timely and accurately
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned timely and accurately

• Ability to read and understand, and interpret accounting procedures
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Ability to research independently and think critically
• Ability to multitask while maintaining multiple deadlines
• Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of situations
• Ability to lift and carry 20 pounds. Stand or sit for more than an hour. Use computers and monitors for up to four hours at a time. Tolerate general office distractions, including fluorescent lighting, for up to 9 straight hours.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or equivalent with 2 years of college preferred
• College degree required OR 3 yrs. related experience in accounting, mortgage, or financial services.
