About this role
Role Overview
At TDM Group, we are looking for a talented and motivated Network Delivery & Implementation Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will take ownership of the end-to-end coordination, deployment, and ongoing support of network infrastructure across a portfolio of 200+ sites throughout Europe, all for a single dedicated customer. You will serve as the primary point of contact for all network-related activities within this engagement, ensuring network systems are secure, well-maintained, and continuously improved through automation and standardized processes.
The scale and complexity of this role demands strong organizational skills, a structured approach to project management, and the ability to drive consistency across a geographically distributed estate.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Pre-Deployment Planning & Coordination
- Review site documentation, including tier classifications, site photos, IP schemes, and connectivity details, to assess requirements and recommend appropriate network and firewall solutions at scale.
- Raise project requests, prepare order forms, and manage procurement activities across multiple concurrent deployments in line with internal and customer approval processes.
- Plan and schedule site visits with all relevant stakeholders including engineering, cybersecurity, facilities, and O&M teams across various European locations.
- Oversee site access approvals, HSE compliance verification, equipment logistics, and ISP coordination to ensure all parties are ready ahead of each planned visit.
- Ensure onsite engineers are fully briefed and equipped with the required tools, safety equipment, and deployment accessories before each engagement.
Deployment & On-Site Support
- Act as the central point of contact during deployment activities across the site estate, monitoring installation progress and providing technical guidance to onsite engineers operating in multiple locations simultaneously.
- Verify successful remote access post-installation and ensure full validation is carried out with site staff to confirm all systems are operating normally.
- Maintain clear and timely communication with the customer's cybersecurity teams throughout each deployment, and ensure thorough pre- and post-installation photographic and network documentation is captured on site.
Network Infrastructure Maintenance
- Take ownership of the ongoing health and performance of network infrastructure across all customer sites.
- Conduct regular reviews of firewall configurations, firmware versions, and security policies to ensure alignment with the customer's cybersecurity standards across the entire estate.
- Proactively monitor network systems, investigate and resolve connectivity or performance issues, and coordinate with ISPs, O&M contractors, and internal teams to minimise downtime.
- Maintain up-to-date physical and logical network diagrams, asset records, and site documentation across all relevant platforms, ensuring consistency and accuracy at scale.
Automation & Tooling Development
- Lead the development and continuous improvement of automation tools to streamline network deployment, configuration, monitoring, and management across the customer's site estate.
- Utilise infrastructure-as-code tools such as Ansible to automate firewall provisioning, configuration management, and firmware updates at scale.
- Identify repetitive manual processes and engineer scalable automated solutions to improve efficiency, consistency, and reliability across a large and geographically distributed estate.
- Collaborate with the customer's cybersecurity and engineering teams to ensure all automation aligns with agreed security policies and operational standards.
Post-Deployment Documentation & Handover
- Register deployed hardware with the relevant vendor portals, verify firmware compliance, and update all internal systems including asset management, monitoring platforms, and site-specific documentation.
- Create and maintain physical network diagrams and ensure all project records are accurately stored on shared drives and knowledge base pages.
- Coordinate support contract creation, customer sign-off, and handover to the Finance team to facilitate invoicing and close out the project lifecycle across all delivered sites.
Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in network infrastructure, deployment, or operations.
- Hands-on experience with firewall technologies, preferably Fortinet FortiGate.
- Experience with network automation tools such as Ansible or similar infrastructure-as-code platforms.
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, and firewall configurations.
- Experience coordinating large-scale IT rollouts or infrastructure projects across multiple sites.
- Familiarity with remote monitoring and network management tools.
- Strong ability to produce and maintain accurate technical documentation including network diagrams and asset records.
- Excellent organisational and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working with ISPs and third-party contractors is a plus.
- Proficient in English; additional European languages are an advantage.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field.
- Relevant networking certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNP, or Fortinet NSE are advantageous.
- A project management qualification such as PRINCE2, PMP, or equivalent is a plus.
