Responsibilities & Requirements

The CT Tech Outpatient performs computed tomography (CT) procedures to support accurate diagnosis and treatment in an outpatient setting, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and high-quality imaging. This role collaborates with physicians and care teams, maintains compliance with regulatory standards, and upholds operational reliability. Performs other duties as assigned. All job responsibilities are to be carried out in alignment with Kettering Health’s mission, vision, values, and B Safe program.

Required Education

• Associate degree in Radiologic Technology or completion of an accredited radiologic technology program.

Required Work Experience

• None required beyond completion of an accredited radiologic technology program
• Clinical rotations accepted

Required Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations

• Current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography.
• ARRT certification in Computed Tomography (CT), or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
• Ohio Department of Health Radiologic License.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.

Essential Functions

• Prepare and position patients for CT procedures, ensuring comfort, safety, and accurate imaging.
• Explain CT procedures to patients and address questions or concerns to facilitate cooperation.
• Operate CT scanners and related equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images according to physician orders and established protocols.
• Prepare and administer IV contrast media as required, monitoring patients for adverse reactions and responding appropriately.
• Document patient information, procedure details, and scan results accurately in the electronic health record (EHR) and other required systems.
• Maintain and inspect CT equipment, reporting malfunctions and ensuring readiness for use.
• Adhere to radiation safety, infection control, and patient confidentiality standards in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to review images and contribute to patient care plans.
• Monitor supply levels and assist with inventory management for the imaging suite.
• Participate in continuing education and maintain required certifications and licensure.
• Assist with quality assurance and process improvement initiatives within the outpatient imaging department.
• Respond to emergency situations and provide basic life support as needed

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology, Health Sciences, or a related field. - Experience performing CT scans in an outpatient or hospital setting. - Additional ARRT certifications in specialized modalities.
