Oracle/SQL Database Administrator

Overview

The Oracle/SQL DBA provides enterprise‑level database engineering, administration, tuning, and support for VA‑EISS and related VA systems for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Office of Information and Technology (OIT), Product Delivery Services (PDS), Benefits and Memorials (BAM), Memorial and Benefit Services (MBS) deliver secure, reliable, and effective Information Technology (IT) solutions that support the Department’s mission.

Responsibilities

• Manages Oracle and SQL Server databases, supports ETL/ELT processes, oversees data migration, ensures configuration and change management compliance, and provides critical support for modernizing legacy data into BIP AWS VAEC environments.
• Provide administrative support for Oracle and SQL databases, including setup, maintenance, and optimization.
• Perform database operations, data definition (DDL), data manipulation (DML), and performance tuning
• Support development, validation, implementation, and testing of data migration strategies and plans.
• Support migration and re‑hosting of legacy databases to modern VA cloud platforms such as BIP AWS VAEC.
• Implement, configure, and support database migration tools such as Liquibase, Flyway, DMS, GoldenGate, AWS Glue, Pent
• Govern all changes made to databases and ensure compliance with VA’s Configuration Management (CM) processes.
• Manage software licenses, maintenance agreements, certificates, and upgrades for database environments
• Maintain Physical Data Models, Data Catalogs, and SOPs.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or IT related degree with 7-10 years' experience
• Demonstrated experience with Oracle/SQL administration; DDL/DML; performance tuning; backup/recovery; database security; data masking; migration
• Experience performing DDL/DML operations, query tuning, performance optimization, and database support.
• Experience with migration tools such as Liquibase, Flyway, GoldenGate, DMS, AWS Glue, or equivalent.
• Experience supporting cloud database migration or modernization work (AWS, VAEC).
• Experience maintaining Data Dictionaries, Physical Data Models, and database documentation.
• Experience with CM processes, licensing management, certificates, and upgrade scheduling
• Public Trust

Preferred:

• Use of VAEC/cloud DB services; automation; Oracle migration tools

Salary Range: $125,000 - $147,000

This position is in the proposal stage. The above salary range represents a general guideline. Integral Federal considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers, such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and/or discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay.
