Mercure Hotel Perth is looking for a skilled, reliable, and hands-on Painter and Decorator who can also take care of general maintenance duties. In this role, you will play a crucial part in upholding our hotel’s high aesthetic standards and ensuring all guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas remain in pristine condition.

You’ll combine your trade expertise in painting and surface finishing with a practical, problem-solving approach to day-to-naire hotel maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Painting & Decorating: Execute high-quality interior and exterior painting, touch-ups, wallpaper application, plaster patching, and surface preparation across guest rooms, corridors, conference spaces, and dining areas.

  • General Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs (e.g., carpentry touch-ups, door hardware adjustments, fixture repairs, and basic tiling or caulking).

  • Defect Management: Conduct regular preventative maintenance checks, identify wear-and-tear issues, and log or resolve them swiftly before they impact the guest experience.

  • Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to hotel health, safety, and fire-life-safety protocols, ensuring safe work practices when working around guests and fellow team members.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with the wider Engineering and Housekeeping teams to coordinate room turnarounds and scheduled refurbishments with minimal disruption to hotel operations.

Qualifications

  • Trade Certificate in Painting and Decorating (or equivalent demonstrable industry experience).

  • Proven experience in commercial painting and general building maintenance, ideally within hospitality, residential, or large-scale facility management.

  •  A positive, customer-focused attitude with strong communication skills and a proactive approach to getting things done.
