PART-TIME MEDICAL TRANSPORT/DRIVER

The Paqtnkek Mi’kmaw Nation Health Centre is seeking a reliable and compassionate PartTime Medical Transport/Driver to provide transportation services for community members for health-related travel needs. This position plays a vital role in supporting the health and well-being of the Paqtnkek Mi’kmaw Nation by ensuring safe and timely transportation for our community members.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide medical transport services to community members for appointments, medical procedures, and other healthcare-related travel.
• Ensure the safe transport of passengers, following all safety and traffic regulations.
• Assist clients, as needed, in getting into and out of the vehicle safely.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and ensure it is in good working condition, including regular checks and basic maintenance.
• Record and track transportation schedules and activities as required.
• Communicate effectively with the Health Centre Manager and other staff regarding transportation needs and schedule changes.
• Follow confidentiality and privacy regulations when dealing with sensitive client information.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid driver’s license (Class 5 or equivalent) with a clean driving record.
• Experience in driving and transporting individuals, particularly those with medical needs, is an asset.
• Ability to maintain a positive, friendly, and respectful attitude toward community members.
• Good knowledge of the local area and routes.
• Ability to manage time effectively and work independently.
• Must pass a background check, including vulnerable sector screening.
• First Aid and CPR certification is an asset.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift or assist with mobility aids, when necessary.

HOURS OF WORK:

• This is a part-time position, with hours varying depending on the number of medical transport requests.
• Flexible scheduling may be available based on availability and transportation needs.

COMPENSATION:

Competitive hourly wage based on experience and qualifications.
