About the Role
We are looking for a highly commercial and analytical Partnerships Lead to build and scale strategic retail partnerships that drive consumer lending growth.
This role will be responsible for developing the merchant partnership strategy, identifying and securing high-value retail partners, structuring commercial agreements, and driving execution in close collaboration with Retail Sales, Product, Marketing, Risk, and Operations teams.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in consumer lending, BNPL, credit cards or retail financial services partnerships. They are equally comfortable negotiating commercial contracts, building business cases and financial models, and influencing product and customer experience decisions that drive adoption and profitability.
This is a builder role focused on creating scalable growth channels.
Merchant Partnership Strategy
- Develop and execute the merchant partnership strategy to drive consumer lending growth.
- Identify, originate, and secure strategic retail and ecosystem partnerships.
- Partner closely with Retail Sales teams to drive merchant acquisition, activation, and performance.
Commercial Structuring
- Lead negotiations and structure commercial agreements that deliver sustainable growth and profitability.
- Build business cases, evaluate partnership economics, and monitor performance against growth and profitability targets.
- Collaborate with Product, Marketing, and Operations teams to improve merchant and customer journeys.
Partnership Management
- Manage executive stakeholder relationships and lead regular business reviews with key partners.
- Coordinate delivery across Sales, Product, Risk, Operations, Legal, and Marketing teams to ensure successful partnership implementation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in any field
- 5–8+ years of experience in consumer lending, BNPL, credit cards, retail financial services, embedded finance, fintech, or merchant acquiring.
- Proven experience building and managing merchant partnerships. Experience working closely with field sales organizations and driving execution through sales channels.
- Strong track record of negotiating and closing commercial agreements with retail partners. Demonstrated ability to evaluate business opportunities, and make data-driven commercial decisions
