Schedule: 24 Hours (Days / Every Other Weekend / Set schedule of Fridays and Tuesdays alternating)

ABOUT THE MATERNAL CHILD HEALTH/MOTHER BABY DEPARTMENT AT BOSTON MEDICAL CENTER:

Patient Care Technician for the Post-Partum Unit and Newborn Nursery provide couplet care to patients that have recently delivered in our Labor & Delivery unit. As a Magnet recognized organization, these nurses provide care to the whole family, ensuring the first few days of care have set the family up for success.

POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Patient Care Technician in the Maternal Child Health/Mother Baby Department, you will play an integral role in delivering exceptional care. Using our patient-centered care model you will be uplifted by a supportive nursing organization, and will be able to deliver the excellent care to your patients that they deserve.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform a variety of appropriately delegated patient care interventions for patients in the ED and their families.
• Clinical services could include, but are not limited to: obtaining vital signs, bathing and feeding, dressing wounds, assisting with hygiene, cleaning rooms and linens, and emotional support.
• Perform a variety of environmental and inventory activities to ensure a safe, clean, and appropriately equipped environment for patients, visitors, and staff in the ED.
• Contribute to the efficient operation of the ED, ensuring quality patient/family clinical outcomes.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• A high school diploma or GED certificate
• Certification in basic life support (BLS), including CPR certification (must be current or obtained within 30 days of employment)
• Ability to pass clinical competency testing
• Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
• Basic math and computer proficiency
• One of the following:
  • One year of previous experience as a Patient Care Technicianin an acute hospital setting
  • Currently enrolled in a nursing program and have completed two cycles of clinical rotation
  • Completed an approved patient care technician
  • Completed an approved patient care techniciantraining
  • One year of previous experience as an EMT or field medic (considered for adult ED positions only)
• Fluency in another language a plus
• Previous medical/surgical experience preferred

Compensation Range:

$23.19- $27.17

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, and licensure/certifications directly related to position requirements.
