Pediatrics Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant

Overview

The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant provides advanced clinical services within their scope of practice, including evaluation, diagnosis, and management of patient conditions. Care is delivered in alignment with standardized procedures and in coordination with the supervising physician when required. The clinician works with designated individuals involved in the patient’s care to address health needs and support treatment plans.

Qualifications

• Current Georgia RN or PA license and current NP or PA certification from a nationally accredited organization (AANP, ANCC, NCCPA, or successor bodies)

• Current CPR certification for healthcare providers

• Current BLS certification for healthcare providers

• Experience in outpatient or primary‑care pediatric settings is preferred; strong interest in pediatric practice may be considered in place of direct experience

• Strong communication and organizational skills

• Professional phone interaction skills

• Ability to maintain accuracy and efficiency in clinical and administrative tasks

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage pediatric patients with a range of conditions in alignment with standardized procedures.

• Obtain medical histories and perform examinations for new patients, documenting normal and abnormal findings.

• Conduct interval assessments and examinations for returning patients.

• Order and interpret diagnostic studies as indicated and within scope of practice.

• Order and furnish medications according to standardized procedures, obtaining supervising‑physician signatures when required.

• Perform designated clinical procedures after demonstrating competency and in accordance with approved protocols.

• Initiate hospital admission or discharge processes and complete required documentation.

• Address age‑specific clinical needs for infants, children, and adolescents.

• Communicate effectively with patients and designated caregivers as well as clinical and administrative staff.

• Identify situations requiring physician involvement and initiate urgent interventions when necessary.

• Perform additional clinical duties as assigned based on organizational needs.
