Location: In-country, Peru. This is a Peru-based role, and the missionary is expected to reside in Peru for the duration of service.
Classification: Full-Time Missionary, support raised. This position is funded 100% through personal mission support raised by the missionary.
Position Summary
The KAI Peru Missionary serves the mission of Kids Alive International across two strategic areas: welcoming and accompanying international short-term mission teams (Go Teams), and supporting the music ministry program “La Voz de Mi Corazón” (“The Voice of My Heart”), a creative arts and restoration strategy for survivors of sexual abuse participating in Kids Alive Peru programming. The missionary lives out the Gospel of Jesus Christ through sacrificial, creative service centered on the holistic well-being of every child. This role is approximately 60% Go Team coordination and hospitality and 40% music ministry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
A. Go Team Coordination and Hospitality (60%)
•Partner with the Country Director and site leaders to plan each Go Team visit from start to finish, including itinerary, lodging, transportation, meals, and scheduled activities.
•Build detailed visit schedules in coordination with the technical team and center directors (Oasis, Enebro, education centers).
•Serve as the bilingual bridge (Spanish and English) between visiting teams and the national staff, ensuring clear, warm, and culturally sensitive communication throughout every interaction.
•Accompany delegations in person for the full duration of each visit (up to six or seven Go Teams per year), serving as the primary point of contact for any need that arises.
•Prepare welcome kits, devotional materials, and orientation resources for each team.
•Ensure all safeguarding guidelines are followed and that photo and video documentation is properly authorized during visits.
•Write post-visit reports that include logistics evaluation, lessons learned, and team satisfaction feedback.
•Maintain ongoing communication with KAI International Go Team coordinators before, during, and after each visit.
B. Music Ministry (40%), “La Voz de Mi Corazón” (The Voice of My Heart)
•Champion and strengthen the “La Voz de Mi Corazón” music ministry strategy, a creative arts and restoration program for survivors of sexual abuse participating in Kids Alive Peru programming.
•Plan, organize, and follow up on the schedule of rehearsals, performances, and music workshops in close coordination with the psychosocial and restoration team.
•Facilitate or co-lead music-based expression sessions as a tool for emotional and spiritual healing, always working under the guidance of the restoration team and honoring the therapeutic framework of the program.
•Manage the material resources needed for music activities, including instruments, audio equipment, and teaching materials.
•Coordinate with visiting artists, volunteers, and external collaborators, ensuring all safeguarding protocols are upheld.
•Document the music process and program milestones for internal reports and accountability to KAI International.
•Develop continuous improvement proposals for the music strategy, including partnerships with conservatories, churches, and cultural organizations.
C. Additional Responsibilities
•Actively participate in the community life of the centers, modeling faith, integrity, and servant leadership.
•Drive institutional vehicles when needed.
•Carry out any other responsibilities assigned by the Country Director.
Key Relationships
Internal: Country Director, center directors (Oasis, Enebro, education centers), psychosocial and restoration team, administrative coordinator.
External: KAI International Go Team coordinators, local tourism and logistics providers, visiting artists and musicians, partner churches, cultural and educational institutions.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree preferred in Education, Social Work, Theology, Music, Arts, or a related field. A graduate degree and professional license are not required.
A minimum of two years of relevant experience is preferred, including experience coordinating multicultural groups or international events, working with vulnerable communities or faith-based organizations, and leading music or arts programs. Experience in short-term missions, international volunteering, or working with children and youth in vulnerable contexts is a strong plus.
