PHARMACY TECHNICIAN - FULL TIME, PART TIME OR PRN POSITIONS - SHIFTS VARY

Overview

The Pharmacy Technician works under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist and assists with medication preparation, distribution, inventory management, and other pharmacy operations to support safe and efficient patient care in the inpatient hospital setting. Key responsibilities include receiving inventory, preparing patient specific medications, automated dispensing cabinet replenishment, unit dose repackaging, and emergency kit replenishment. Sterile compounding positions are available which include preparation of IV medications, chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or GED required.

Registration: Must be registered with the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician within 30 days of hire date, and registration must be in good standing “active”. Employees must have national certification with PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) or ExCPT (Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians) upon hire.

Experience: Experience applying customer service behaviors and communication skills required.

Minimum of 6 months of current Pharmacy Tech experience is required. Combination of both inpatient and outpatient experience preferred, particularly outpatient/retail experience.
