Physician Assistant - OB/GYN - Per Diem

Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of a physician performs assessments, medical examinations, selected diagnostic and therapeutic tasks, and other special procedures to assist in the delivery of medical services to patients and their families.

LOCATION: Rochester General Hospital

DEPARTMENT: Women's Health

SCHEDULE: As Scheduled

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess and diagnose acute illnesses and minor injuries, select and implement treatment plan, monitor response to treatment plans for acute and chronic medical conditions.
• Select and order appropriate diagnostic and health maintenance procedures, i.e., lab tests, ultrasound, x—ray, etc.
• Synthesize and interpret history, physical examination and diagnostic testing data to develop a diagnosis, initiate treatment and health maintenance plan.
• Provide health education, instruction, guidance and advise patients regarding medication and treatment, communicate with and counsel family members and recommend community resources to meet patient and family needs.
• Refer patients to physician, specialist and/or appropriate community services or agencies as necessary.
• Provide telephone consultation, follow—up phone calls; assess needs and make recommendations and/or referrals.
• Prescribe medication, perform minor procedures and coordinate treatment.
• Perform administrative responsibilities, i.e., update patient charts, billing codes and completing of required documents from outside agencies, i.e., schools, employers, New York State Department of Social Services, etc.
• Utilize personal protection, work practice controls and safety guidelines to minimize and/or prevent occupation exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids and risks prescribed patient treatment (i.e., radiation, toxic substances).Provides medical care consistent with specialty training, experience and credentialing, reflecting the principles of evidenced based medicine.

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:

PA-C - Certified Physician Assistant - National Committee on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), RPA - Registered Physician Assistant - NYS Office of Professions

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20–50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements.

PAY RANGE:

$65.00 - $75.00Rochester14621

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
