Power Platform Solutions Engineer

Job Summary

Deliver high-value automation and low-code solutions for Northeastern departments while enabling those departments to build responsibly. This role is the primary hands-on builder on the Power Platform team, designing and shipping Power Apps, Power Automate, and Copilot Studio solutions that are production-ready and supportable from day one, and the primary point of contact for departments assessing new automation opportunities.

Responsibilities

Solution Design & Delivery

• Design and develop Power Apps, Power Automate workflows, and Copilot Studio solutions.
• Deliver Power Platform solutions across Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, and Copilot Studio use cases, ensuring solutions are production-ready, supportable, and aligned with enterprise standards.
• Provide technical reviews, troubleshooting, and escalation support for production solutions.

Integration & Reusable Components

• Build and maintain integrations with enterprise systems using approved APIs, connectors, and data services.
• Support integrations with systems outside Microsoft 365 — identity services, gateways, and institutional data sources — favoring reusable integration patterns over one-off solutions.
• Create reusable templates, components, custom connectors, and reference implementations.

Departmental Engagement & Enablement

• Partner with departments to assess opportunities, shape requirements, and deliver initial solutions.
• Develop training, office hours, documentation, and citizen-developer enablement practices.
• Support the institution’s Center of Excellence / Enablement capability with reusable templates, components, and citizen-developer guidance.

Standards & Collaboration

• Collaborate with the Power Platform Architect to ensure solutions meet security, integration, lifecycle, and support standards before they reach production.

INITIAL 90-DAY DELIVERABLES

• Prioritized backlog of pilot solutions
• Reusable integration components and custom connectors
• Departmental engagement model (intake-to-delivery process)
• Developer guidance and solution-design patterns for citizen developers
• Training materials and office-hours program
• Solution documentation and production handoff standards

Skills and Experience

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 4–7 years of hands-on development experience with Microsoft Power Platform — Power Apps (canvas and model-driven), Power Automate (cloud and desktop flows), and Dataverse.
• Practical experience building and publishing Copilot Studio agents/solutions.
• Experience integrating Power Platform solutions with enterprise systems via REST APIs, custom connectors, and on-premises data gateways.
• Track record of taking a solution from departmental request through to a supportable, production-ready release — not only prototyping.
• Strong stakeholder-facing communication skills; comfortable running requirements sessions and training with non-technical departmental staff.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Microsoft PL-400 (Power Platform Developer) or PL-200 (Functional Consultant) certification.
• Experience authoring reusable component libraries or managed solutions for distribution across departments.
• Prior experience supporting citizen developers or running an internal office-hours / enablement program.
• Prior experience in higher education or another decentralized, departmentally-governed institution.
• Familiarity with Azure services (Functions, Logic Apps) as extensions to Power Platform solutions.
