JOB SUMMARY
This job strongly contributes to the OML30 Portfolio by identifying short- and long-term production improvement opportunities as well as portfolio insights leveraging on data analytics to allow good quality business decision making.
The Senior Technical Planner is responsible for driving the annual planning cycle, technical and commercial evaluation of resources and the portfolio value management activities of HEOSL. He / She advises the Portfolio Management Team on the potential of available data, provides new insights into the business’s production targets, uses prevailing technology, science, and data to determine if the processes in place are achieving the goals of the company.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Annual Work Program and Budget/Strategic Planning: Contributes to the Technical input to the Annual Work Program and Budget activities; Coordinates and manages the cross-functional teams to define, develop and implement business planning processes; executes key business initiatives that will drive business operations, develop, and implements best practices to meet business objectives.
- Production Forecasting: Contributes to the OML-30 Oil and Gas Production Forecasting exercises including Short, Medium and Long-Term Forecasting for the asset budget planning cycle. Prepares and issues annual production budget/forecast based on validated reservoir well profiles, planned activities (well interventions, drilling, equipment maintenance impacting on production, unplanned production impacts and other non-operational production impacts. Liaises with geoscientists, production and reservoir engineers to predict production potential.
- Reserves/Resource Volume Management: Contributes to technical and commercial evaluation of petroleum reserves and resources bookings and progression, looking for every opportunity to automate workflows for efficiency. Supports the Team’s effort to develop Reserves Support Packages for the entire OML-30 assets and prepares reports as needed.
- Annual Reservoir Performance Report: Contributes to the Team’s efforts to generate and maintain an Annual Reservoir Performance Report to communicate reservoir level performance status, and changes to production targets, explain variations and capture mid-term corrective actions to the development plan.
- Resource Progression: Identifies, where possible, value-generating opportunities for the company including (but not limited to) production optimization, develops reserves, improves ultimate recovery, efficiency and reduces cost. Supports business plans with production improvement opportunities.
- Perform gap analysis to show production optimisation opportunities / slippages compared with budget planning.
- Production Deferment management. Contributes to tracking production deferment and performance of sensitivity analysis to guide operations management decision for deferments optimisation.
- Stakeholder Engagement/Relationships: Builds and maintains strong working relationship and interfaces with JV partners, representing HEOSL at external meetings.
- Contributes to department / ad hoc tasks for Senior Management.
- Disseminates best practices and guidance to less experienced team members.
QUALIFICATION
Key qualifications for this role are:
- Petroleum Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in oil and gas business.
- Practical experience in business planning, production forecasting, reservoir management, reserves and resource volume estimation.
- Expertise using PowerBI and/or Tableau or other similar tools is desirable
- Strong math skills (e.g., statistics, algebra); exceptional analytical skills; and a pragmatic approach to problem solving informed by a well-developed concept of strategy with Business Acumen.
- Be comfortable with meeting short deadlines and could deliver a quality product in a timely manner.
- Proactive in nature with excellent planning & organization skills.
- Broad understanding of other E&P disciplines
