Overview

The Program Manager - Electrical Training & Operations supports the successful day-to-day delivery of Propel Career Academy's electrical apprenticeship, workforce training, Accelerator, and related technical programs at the San Antonio location. This position serves as the primary local operational and instructional support partner to the Manager of Curriculum & Training and helps translate curriculum, schedules, performance profiles, lab standards, materials plans, and training initiatives into consistent local execution.

The role combines program administration, instructor and student support, lab operations, training coordination, and direct instruction. The individual will initially shadow and co-instruct a complete Electrical Accelerator cohort in preparation to independently deliver future Accelerator cohorts and other established electrical training programs. A Tuesday-Saturday schedule may be assigned to support Saturday campus operations, student make-up work, lab access, testing, and completion of hands-on training requirements.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Program Operations & Local Implementation

Coordinate the day-to-day operation of San Antonio electrical apprenticeship and technical training

programs.

Implement schedules, instructional calendars, performance-profile activities, labs, and other training

requirements established by Curriculum & Training.

Coordinate classrooms, instructors, students, equipment, materials, and training resources.

Identify scheduling, staffing, material, equipment, or instructional issues early and communicate

recommended solutions.

Maintain an organized, professional, and field-relevant training environment.

Electrical Apprenticeship Support

Support delivery of NCCER-based Electrical Levels 1-4.

Assist instructors with lesson preparation, performance profiles, lab setup, instructional materials, and

hands-on activities.

Support implementation of curriculum revisions, NEC updates, instructional guides, verification sheets,

and standardized performance-profile activities.

Help ensure students and instructors have access to required textbooks, LMS resources, tools,

materials, and lab equipment.

Coordinate approved make-up activities and completion of missed hands-on or performance-profile

requirements.

Instruction & Accelerator Development

Shadow the Manager of Curriculum & Training through one complete Electrical Accelerator cohort.

Progress from observation to co-instruction and demonstrate readiness to independently deliver the

established Accelerator curriculum.

Teach future Electrical Accelerator cohorts as assigned.

Provide electrical instruction, demonstrations, labs, reviews, and make-up instruction when qualified

and assigned.

Support Core, Electrical Levels 1-4, workforce, CTE, and short-course instruction as program needs

require.

Saturday Student & Campus Support

Provide scheduled Saturday operational coverage for the San Antonio location when assigned a

Tuesday-Saturday schedule.

Coordinate approved student make-up opportunities, lab access, and completion of missed practical

work.

Supervise Saturday labs, assessments, performance profiles, and supplemental instruction.

Maintain attendance and completion records for Saturday activity and communicate required follow-

up.

Maintain appropriate safety, supervision, and facility-access procedures.

Lab, Equipment & Materials Support

Assist with the development, organization, maintenance, and continuous improvement of San Antonio

electrical labs.

Coordinate preparation, storage, issue, and replenishment of instructional materials and consumables.

Support development of training stations for commercial installation, conduit, conductors, services,

grounding, motors, transformers, fire alarm/FACP, 24V troubleshooting, and motor controls.

Coordinate with Prefab, vendors, manufacturers, and internal FSG resources as directed.

Maintain tools and equipment in a safe, organized, and instruction-ready condition.

Instructor Support

Assist with instructor onboarding and orientation to Propel schedules, NCCER processes, LMS

expectations, performance profiles, and lab standards.

Provide day-to-day classroom and lab implementation support.

Identify instructor training or resource needs and communicate them to the Manager of Curriculum &

Training.

Support instructor meetings, demonstrations, preparation activities, and distribution of training

resources.

Student Support

Maintain a visible presence with San Antonio students and instructors.

Help identify students falling behind in practical work or training requirements and coordinate

appropriate make-up opportunities.

Coordinate with Student Success regarding attendance, academic concerns, make-up work, and student

follow-up.

Reinforce expectations for safety, attendance, workmanship, professionalism, and accountability.

Training Administration & Documentation

Track local completion of labs, performance profiles, make-up activities, and assigned program

deliverables.

Maintain instructional schedules, materials lists, lab documentation, verification sheets, and instructor

resources as assigned.

Support accurate documentation needed for NCCER, apprenticeship, TDLR, DOL, TWC, and other

applicable requirements in coordination with the departments responsible for official compliance reporting.

Assist with inventories, classroom observations, facility readiness, instructional audits, and program

reviews.

Branch & FSG Coordination

Support communication between the San Antonio training location and FSG operational leadership.

Assist with coordination of apprentices, supervisors, instructors, and training schedules.

Support workforce initiatives, recruiting events, demonstrations, employer visits, and other training-

related activities as assigned.

Help ensure training remains aligned with current FSG field operations and workforce needs.

Support to the Manager of Curriculum & Training

A primary purpose of this role is to provide local execution and operational support so the Manager of Curriculum & Training can maintain appropriate focus on program-wide curriculum, technical standards, electrical strategy, instructor development, cross-unit consistency, and new program development.

Manage routine San Antonio program coordination and local implementation.

Coordinate instructors, schedules, labs, materials, classroom needs, and student make-up operations.

Handle routine local training-support issues and escalate items requiring technical or executive

direction.

Prepare labs, instructional resources, and materials for upcoming training.

Deliver established training programs after appropriate development and qualification.

Support implementation of new curriculum, performance profiles, lab standards, and technical

initiatives.

Serve as the on-site operational bridge between Curriculum & Training and the San Antonio campus.

Work Schedule

The anticipated schedule may be Tuesday through Saturday, based on program needs. Tuesday- Friday responsibilities may include apprenticeship operations, instructor and student support, program administration, lab preparation, meetings, and instruction. Saturday responsibilities may include student make-up work, lab access, performance profiles, supplemental instruction, testing, and scheduled training. Schedule flexibility will be required during Accelerator cohorts, apprenticeship startup, instructor development, special training events, and other major program activities.

Qualifications

Required

  • Must have a Journeymen's license.
  • Strong electrical construction knowledge and practical field experience.
  • Ability to work effectively with apprentices, instructors, project leadership, and administrative staff.
  • Strong organization, communication, problem-solving, and follow-through skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple classes, instructors, students, and training activities simultaneously.
  • Comfort providing hands-on electrical instruction and demonstrations.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and the NEC.
  • Working knowledge of commercial electrical installation practices.
  • Ability to maintain accurate training documentation and follow established procedures.
  • Commitment to safety, professional workmanship, and student success.

Preferred

  • Prior apprenticeship, craft-training, foreman, superintendent, or instructional experience.
  • Familiarity with NCCER curriculum and performance profiles.
  • Experience with electrical apprenticeship programs.
  • Experience with motors, motor controls, transformers, grounding and bonding, commercial

installations, and troubleshooting.

  • Familiarity with Blackboard, NCCER systems, or comparable LMS/training platforms.
  • OSHA trainer or other applicable training credentials.
  • Experience developing or delivering hands-on workforce training.

Initial Development Expectations

  • Become familiar with Propel electrical program structure, schedules, curriculum, instructional
  • standards, and administrative processes.

  • Shadow the Manager of Curriculum & Training during one complete Electrical Accelerator cohort.
  • Progressively assume responsibility for Accelerator lessons, demonstrations, labs, and student
  • coaching.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in established lab activities and performance-profile requirements.
  • Become proficient in San Antonio apprenticeship operations and Saturday student-support procedures.

    This position is intended to combine local program management with meaningful technical and instructional capability. It is not limited to administrative coordination; the successful candidate is expected to become an active training partner, support instructor execution, maintain student access to hands-on learning, and help expand San Antonio's capacity to deliver high-quality electrical training.
