About this role
Programme Lead – Pharmaceutical Drug Delivery Systems
TTP is an employee-owned technology and product development consultancy, with a 40-year track record of partnering with ambitious clients to solve complex challenges and bring innovative, commercially successful solutions to market.
We invent, design, and manufacture impactful products and technologies across a wide range of industries – including healthcare, life science, energy, and communications – and at the intersection of engineering, physical science, and biology.
Our working culture encourages entrepreneurship, shared ideas and technical collaboration, while providing you with the freedom to do your best work.
At TTP, we help pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies tackle the delivery challenges posed by increasingly complex therapies — combining deep science, engineering and human-centred design to turn difficult problems into viable products that make a difference to patients.
We're looking for an experienced Programme Lead to take ownership of some of our most challenging development programmes, leading multidisciplinary teams and working on everything from making complex therapies easier to administer at home, to developing specialist technologies for local and targeted delivery.
Many of these programmes start with significant technical uncertainty, where the delivery requirements are still evolving alongside the therapy. You'll have the autonomy to shape the development approach, bring together the right expertise and guide clients through difficult technical, regulatory and commercial decisions.
Beyond individual programmes, you'll play an important role in developing client relationships, mentoring colleagues and helping shape the future of TTP's Pharma business.
Qualifications
We're looking for an experienced technical leader who combines strong engineering judgement with the ability to lead people, manage complex programmes and build trusted client relationships.
You will have:
- A proven track record of leading complex medical-device or combination-product development programmes from concept through to manufacture, with a strong understanding of design for manufacturability and scale.
- Deep technical engineering experience, typically gained over 10+ years in medical device development, including substantial experience in drug-delivery device development and a strong understanding of drug device combination products.
- Strong engineering fundamentals and systems-level thinking, with the creativity and analytical rigour to resolve difficult, ambiguous technical challenges.
- The ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, balancing technical, regulatory, commercial and programme considerations to make sound decisions and maintain momentum.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience building client relationships, understanding their broader objectives and developing new opportunities through trusted partnerships.
- A collaborative leadership style, with an interest in coaching and developing others and helping teams perform at their best.
- An appreciation of the regulatory and commercial considerations involved in developing medical devices and combination products, and the ability to apply this understanding to development strategy.
What will help you succeed:
- Intellectual curiosity, with a willingness to challenge assumptions and explore new approaches.
- Strategic thinking, balanced with pragmatism and adaptability in execution.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to recognise opportunities, shape compelling proposals and win follow-on work.
- Confidence in navigating ambiguity, making sound judgements and maintaining momentum when the path forward isn't clear.
- An engaging and empowering leadership style that brings out the best in others.
- Willingness to travel for client meetings and project engagements.
