Project Accountant – Systems Testing (16-Month Contract)

We are currently looking for a Systems Accountant to join our Corporate Accounting team on an 16-month contract. In this role, you'll play a key part in supporting BCAA's Guidewire Cloud migration by leading finance-focused testing activities and helping ensure accounting processes, reporting, and system integrations perform as expected in the new environment.

What you'll do

• Execute and coordinate finance-related Business Acceptance Testing (BAT) activities and participate in System Integration Testing (SIT) and regression testing for the Guidewire Cloud migration.
• Validate end-to-end accounting and reporting processes across Guidewire, Epicor, and related systems, including interfaces, reports, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial outputs.
• Identify, document, and retest defects and variances, partnering with Information Services, project teams, and vendors to support root cause analysis and resolution.
• Review test cases and expected outcomes to ensure finance requirements, accounting controls, reporting needs, and existing functionality are adequately covered.
• Support dress rehearsals, cutover activities, and go-live readiness by validating accounting processes and financial results in the cloud environment.
• Maintain testing documentation, including scenarios, defect logs, retest results, regression outcomes, and issue summaries.
• Prepare and update testing trackers, reconciliation schedules, defect logs, and status reports to support project governance and decision-making.
• Validate finance reports, dashboards, data extracts, and system interfaces to ensure accurate and complete outputs.
• Support analysis related to migration testing results, cutover planning, blackout periods, and post-deployment stabilization activities.
• Contribute to continuous improvements in testing practices, documentation standards, defect management, and controls over finance-related system changes.

What you'll bring

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Accounting, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience supporting system testing, Business Acceptance Testing (BAT), System Integration Testing (SIT), and regression testing, ideally within Guidewire or other enterprise system implementations.
• Experience working with ERP and general ledger systems, reporting tools, Excel, defect tracking tools, interfaces, and large data sets.
• Knowledge of Guidewire and Epicor is considered an asset.
• Exposure to accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, or finance-related business processes is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to execute test scenarios, validate results, document defects, and coordinate retesting through resolution.
• Experience validating end-to-end business processes, integrations, reports, reconciliations, and system functionality across interconnected platforms.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and investigative skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.

The hourly rate range for this position is $35.41 to $44.27 and is determined via job-related knowledge, skills, experience, certifications, market demand and internal equity. In addition to base salary and BCAA benefits, this position may be eligible for a performance bonus target of 4.8%, with the opportunity to earn up to 9%.
