Project Controller – Defence

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and monitor project schedules and plans.
• Track project performance against key milestones, budgets, and deliverables.
• Produce accurate project reporting, dashboards, and management information.
• Support forecasting activities and monitor project costs and resource utilisation.
• Assist in risk, issue, and dependency management processes.
• Analyse project data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
• Support project governance activities, including review boards and stakeholder meetings.
• Maintain project documentation and ensure compliance with programme controls processes.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure accurate and timely project information.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of project controls and PMO practices.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

• Experience in a Project Controls, PMO, Project Planning, Project Support, or Project Coordination role.
• Strong understanding of project lifecycle management and governance processes.
• Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience producing project reports, KPIs, and management information.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Must hold active SC Clearance or be eligible to obtain SC Clearance.

Desirable Experience

• Previous experience within Defence, Aerospace, Government, Engineering, or highly regulated environments.
• Knowledge of project planning tools such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
• Understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM) principles.
• Familiarity with risk and schedule management methodologies.
• Professional qualifications such as APM PMQ, PRINCE2, or equivalent.

Security Requirements

• Hold current SC (Security Check) Clearance; or
• Be eligible and willing to undergo SC Clearance.

• British citizenship or appropriate residency status.
• A minimum period of UK residency in line with UK Government vetting requirements.
