We are seeking an experienced Project Controls Manager/Lead to lead and oversee project controls functions across major Defence projects and programmes. This role will play a critical part in delivering complex, high-value outcomes by driving excellence in cost management, planning and scheduling, risk management, reporting and governance. Working closely with Defence clients and key stakeholders, you will provide strategic project controls leadership to support successful project delivery from initiation through to completion.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead and continuously improve project controls functions, including cost control, planning, scheduling, risk management, reporting and project governance.
- Partner with clients and senior stakeholders to identify business needs and develop strategies that enhance project and programme delivery outcomes.
- Oversee project financial performance through budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, variance analysis and resource management.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and project teams to ensure successful project delivery and stakeholder alignment.
- Lead, mentor and develop high-performing project services teams while supporting business growth through proposals, submissions, financial reporting and business planning activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business Administration or a related discipline.
- Willingness to be located in Adelaide, South Australia.
- Minimum 5-10 years' experience in project controls, project management or project services roles, including demonstrated success on large, complex infrastructure, construction, defence or capital projects.
- Strong expertise in cost control, scheduling, risk management, project reporting and governance frameworks, with proficiency in project controls software such as Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, interpret complex data and deliver high-quality reports with strong attention to detail.
- Proven leadership, stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across all organisational levels and work collaboratively within fast-paced environments.
- Professional certification such as PMP, CCP or equivalent is highly regarded.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, including strong report writing and presentation capabilities.
- Must be an Australian Citizen and eligible to obtain an AGSVA Baseline Security Clearance, or a British Citizen holding a current UKSV clearance.
