What We Need:

This role plays an integral role in supporting project delivery by taking on increased ownership of coordination, financial tracking, and project processes. This role is responsible for managing procurement and submittal workflows, supporting contract and financial administration, and maintaining accurate project data within systems like Procore. The Project Engineer II works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and trade partners to ensure clear communication, timely execution, and alignment across all project activities. With a deeper understanding of construction processes, estimating, and scheduling, this role contributes to maintaining project momentum while developing greater independence and leadership in managing day-to-day project responsibilities. Success in this role requires strong organizational and technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to proactively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do:

Leadership, Collaboration & Professional Development

  • Manage Day 2 items with oversight from Project Manager
  • Maintain a positive, proactive attitude
  • Clear, direct, consistent verbal and written communication with trade partners, project partners, and project team
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource and mentor to PE I team members and Project Coordinators, actively supporting their development and day-to-day problem solving.
  • Recognize and address team or trade partner conflicts early, applying sound judgment and effective communication to resolve issues and maintain productive working relationships.
  • Communicate challenging or unfavorable information in a timely, professional, and solution-oriented manner, ensuring transparency while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.


Business, Financial & Operational Effectiveness

  • Manage MSA/work order process once values and scopes are approved by PM & Team Lead
  • Create and manage procurement log, including weekly and twice-weekly follow-ups with trade partners and email documentation
  • Create commitments and COs in Procore with PM oversight and approval
  • Reconcile financials in Procore each month prior to pencil submission to Accounting with PM oversight and approval
  • Full ability to manage financial master in Procore
  • Full understanding of pencil draw and pay application process
  • Demonstrated understanding of estimating processes and best practices, with the ability to support the preparation of competitive bids under appropriate supervision.
  • Manage Invite To Bid (ITB) process and corresponding documentation
  • Working knowledge of estimating processes and practices, with the ability to develop strong proficiency.
  • Take ownership of urgent issues and demonstrate the confidence to promptly address identified issues


Project Management, Coordination, & Execution

  • Effectively support multiple concurrent projects, demonstrating the ability to manage increased workload and complexity (typically contributing across 3–4 projects, depending on size and scope).
  • Assist with set up of project folders & template documents
  • Assist with permit process and permit corrections
  • Set up new projects in Procore
  • Create electronic Superintendent Binder in Procore
  • Create OAC agendas, reviewed by PM
  • Document all meetings, including but not limited to OAC meetings, coordination meetings, building and client kick-off meetings, and on-site walkthroughs.
  • Manage the submittal and procurement process with PM oversight, maintaining an accurate and up-to-date weekly submittal and procurement log.
  • Prepare clear, comprehensive, and properly structured RFIs with PM oversight
  • Manage Day 2 items with oversight from Project Manager
  • Manage closeout documentation in Procore, distribute to the Owner, schedule and document end user training, while providing guidance, mentorship, and oversight to the Project Coordinator to ensure completion within the project closeout month.
  • Assist with punch list documentation; iPad management on site during punch
  • Develop accurate project schedules with PM oversight
  • Ability to distribute project documentation to and from all relevant parties in a timely fashion, best practice is 24 hours (Examples: Partition Layout Notes, Box Walk Notes, Above Ceiling Layout, Above Ceiling Punch, etc.)
  • Demonstrate accountability by proactively and consistently communicating with partners without the need for PM reminders.
  • Ability to run meetings confidently both virtually and in-person


Technical Effectiveness & Quality

  • Set up new projects in Procore
  • Manage Procore data management; submittals, RFIs, drawing sets, directory management, and punch list tasks
  • Demonstrates a foundational understanding of the role and responsibilities of each trade within the construction process.
  • Thorough understanding of construction drawings and document review process


What You'll Bring:

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience as a Project Engineer in commercial interior construction
  • Experience in preconstruction and estimating required
  • Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Project Management, or a related field preferred
  • Proficient in managing RFIs, submittals, insurance and contract administration, and document coordination
  • Strong technical skills and the ability to learn new systems and tools quickly
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • High level of engagement and an empathetic, people-centered approach to teamwork and leadership
  • Demonstrates a strong customer service mindset, with working knowledge of customer service principles and best practices
