Project Manager - Technical Workstreams

Steampunk is seeking a Project Manager to manage delivery execution for data, AI governance, and security/identity-focused workstreams within a large federal advisory program, applying the program/project manager competency standard to an assigned subset of the work. You'll be a client liaison, team coach, and mentor — leading day-to-day project tasking and delivery in a government consulting environment.

Contributions

• Track deliverables, timelines, dependencies, and risks for assigned technical workstreams against program-wide SLA standards
• Apply financial management, acquisition support, and performance measurement practices within the assigned workstreams
• Partner with technical subject matter experts and architecture leadership to keep delivery on track
• Report workstream status into the integrated schedule and leadership reviews
• Maintain results-oriented working relationships with client stakeholders on the assigned workstreams
• Manage assigned workstream team members, facilitate technical discussions to troubleshoot delivery issues, and monitor team performance
• Assess the current delivery environment and recommend Agile practices tailored to the workstream
• Participate in and support Agile ceremonies for the assigned workstream, removing blockers to keep delivery on track
• Evaluate workstream feasibility, eliminate non-productive tasking, and find ways to accelerate delivery where possible
• Offer guidance and recommendations to client stakeholders in challenging situations
• Support staff training and development needs to build skills and career growth within the assigned team

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance
• Bachelor's degree
• 5+ years of project management experience, including 5+ years managing projects using Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban)
• PMP or equivalent certification
• Working proficiency in scheduling, performance measurement, and executive reporting
• Ability to establish immediate credibility with clients, build consensus, and achieve goals through influence
• Demonstrated interpersonal skill coordinating across technical, mission, and stakeholder groups, with flexibility to work across teams, individuals, and executives
• Experience working in a complex technical/engineering delivery environment

Preferred:

• Experience supporting data, AI governance, or cybersecurity/identity-related delivery
• Prior federal contract experience
• Certified Scrum Master

Steampunk relies on several factors to determine salary, including but not limited to geographic location, contractual requirements, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience. The projected compensation range for this position is $110,000 to $175,000. The estimate displayed represents a typical annual salary range for this position.
