We are seeking a highly structured, local, or regional Project Superintendent to lead on-site field operations at the VA Northern Indiana Health Care System Marion Campus located in Marion, IN. You will act as the primary field execution leader, ensuring that infrastructure modernizations, building renovations, and/or utility improvements projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and in absolute compliance with federal codes. The ideal candidate possesses deep experience with federal contracting rules, VA-specific safety standards, and specialized medical/institutional facility workflows.
Core Responsibilities
- Field Execution & Schedule Control: Manage all daily field operations, trades, and subcontractors to maintain the master construction timeline for Marion VAMC campus projects.
- Federal Quality Assurance: Review blueprints and specifications to guarantee that on-site work and delivered materials match exact federal design requirements.
- Safety & Regulatory Mandates: Enforce comprehensive OSHA standards and strict VA Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) protocols to ensure the safety of workers, VA hospital staff, and veterans.
- Agency Stakeholder Coordination: Serve as the main on-site liaison to update the VA Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR), local facility leadership, and Design Teams.
- Documentation & Log Management: Maintain highly accurate daily logs, material tracking reports, submittals, and change order field notes required for federal audits.
Key Qualifications & Experience
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of commercial construction superintendent experience, with at least 2 years directly managing federal or institutional jobs (VA project experience highly preferred).
- Certifications:
- Current OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification (Required).
- USACE/NAVFAC Construction Quality Management (CQM) for Contractors Certification (Highly Preferred).
- Technical Skills: Proficient with construction management tracking systems (EX. Procore, USACE RMS) and reading complex MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) designs.
- Core Competencies: Exceptional conflict resolution skills, rigorous attention to regulatory detail, and a professional commitment to delivering high-quality spaces for the veteran community.
Work Environment
- This position is strictly on-site at the Marion VA Medical Center (1700 E. 38th St, Marion, IN 46953).
Must be capable of passing federal background checks to secure a VA PIV badge for unescorted site access.
