Propulsion Design Engineer, Propulsion - Engine Integration (w/m/f)

Mission Brief

As a Propulsion Design Engineer, you will drive the development of engine hardware from initialconcept through qualification and production. You will be responsible for the design, analysis, and integration of engine structural components, piping, and subsystem packaging, with a strong focus on component placement, mass optimisation, and manufacturability. This includes defining engine architecture, optimising routing and interfaces, and developing design solutions that reduce weight, part count, and costs, while ensuring performance and reliability. The role requires close collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams and a strong understanding of engine architecture and system-level integration.

Your Role in Our Space Mission:

• Own complex engine assemblies from concept to hardware delivery, balancing technical scope, schedule, and integration requirements.
• Design and develop engine hardware and fluid routing using CAD tools, including detailed 3Dmodelsand manufacturing drawings.
• Drive the iterative development and continuousoptimisationof flight-proven hardware.
• Implement engine layout improvements whilecomplying withengine functional requirements.
• Define and manage interfaces with adjacent systems and collaborate closely with fluid system, combustion, structures, manufacturing, and testing teams.
• Perform structural and thermal analyses to ensure component performance and system reliability.

Qualification Checklist

• M.Sc. or M.Eng. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven engineering excellence and experience solving complex technical problems.
• Experience in mechanical design of complex assemblieswithinthe aerospace sector.
• Experience with machining processes, tolerancing, and technical drawing standards.
• Proficiencywith CAD software, preferably Siemens NX, including detailed part and assembly modelling and drawing creation.
• Experience with design formanufacturabilityprinciples.
• Experience in structural and thermal analysis, employing both analytical methods and simulation tools forcomponent and system design.
• Ability to effectively collaborate within multidisciplinary and cross-functional teams.
• Highlyorganisedand proactive, with strong attention to detail.
• Passion for rocket propulsion and space.
• Driven, curious, and eager to learn.
• Fluent in English.

Bonus Skills

• Experience in rocket engine design and development.
• Acquainted with fluid plans and rocket engine architectures.
• Experience with Python or similar programming languages for engineering automation.
• Experience using Siemens Teamcenter or other PLM systems.
• Professional working proficiency in German.
