Hospital based psychiatric nurse practitioner with the psychiatry consultation/liaison team.
The consultation/liaison nurse practitioner will work on our inpatient medical/surgical units and will have the option of participating in our primary care clinic.
Duties include performing inpatient consultations and collaborating with attending physicians and other staff, evaluating capacity, applying and lifting legal holds, managing agitation in patients with delirium and dementia, aiding physicians in controlling withdrawal symptoms from alcohol, controlled substances and illicit drugs.
Prescribe appropriate treatment plans and prescribe medications, psychotherapy, or rehabilitation programs; Conduct and direct individual psychotherapy, mostly supportive and motivational interviewing and Maintain records of diagnosis, treatment and prognosis.
Practitioner provides service to the Med/Surg unit and the Emergency Dept.
The position requires a 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. After-hour and weekend consultation opportunities are available as well and would be added to your benefits on a fee basis.
