Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner prescribes medication, implements patient teaching and facilitates next-care linkages, referrals and/or admissions, to ensure smooth and timely transitions to appropriate level of care/service.

Responsible for covering and treating of behavioral health patients in the Emergency Department.Responsible for providing consultative services for patients with potential/definitive co-morbid psychiatric illnesses admitted to the medical/surgical floors (will be treating a significant number of geriatric patients with behavioral health issues).

Possess analytical skills to evaluate care needs, gather relevant clinical data, evaluate laboratory data, and make sound clinical recommendations.

Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills. Must exhibit good judgment and tact in dealing with patients, families, and working with multidisciplinary teams

Need to feel comfortable working independently, with telephonic back-up from a psychiatrist

Prefer inpatient and/or ED experience
