Public Sector Total Compensation & Benefits Consultant

AlphaGov is seeking a Public Sector Total Compensation & Benefits Consultant for project-based engagements with cities, counties, states, special districts, and other public employers nationwide.

You will value and analyze total compensation base pay, employer benefits, retirement contributions, leave, premiums, and related practices — and turn findings into decision-ready recommendations. This is not the California CalPERS-specialist role; nationwide public-sector benefits literacy is the focus.

What you'll do:

- Design and execute total compensation and benefits analyses for public-sector clients

- Value health benefits, retirement contributions, deferred compensation, leave, and premium pay

- Integrate benefits findings with salary market data and internal equity reviews

- Develop clear cost models and implementation scenarios

- Review survey methodologies for defensibility

- Prepare executive summaries, staff reports, and board materials

- Contribute total-rewards technical content to AlphaGov proposals

Requirements

• Required:
• - 5+ years total compensation, benefits analysis, or compensation consulting for public-sector employers
• - Experience valuing employer-provided benefits as part of total compensation
• - Strong quantitative, analytical, and report-writing skills
• - Experience preparing materials for executive or board review

Nice to have: multi-state public benefits familiarity; prior consulting/subconsulting; CCP/CEBS/WorldatWork
