Role profile
This role will provide QSE leadership and practical support across Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania, covering the full project lifecycles from planning and mobilisation through project delivery and demobilisation. We are looking for someone who is energetic, proactive and comfortable spending time both on sites and in the office supporting project teams.
This would suit a strong developing project-based QSE professional early in their career, who is ready to take the next step into a broader QSE Lead role supporting multiple projects at any given time, combining hands-on project support with regional coordination and management responsibilities. The role will report directly to the National QSE Manager but work closely with local managers.
Key characteristics
Is energetic, approachable and proactive, with a strong willingness to regularly visit sites and provide practical support to operational teams.
Is willing to be hands on in support of projects during planning, mobilisation, delivery and demobilisation. Knows when to be a team player and when to assert compliance requirements.
Engages confidently and professionally with clients, project teams, subcontractors and other key stakeholders.
Can work independently across a broad geographic region while remaining an effective member of the wider QSE and operational teams.
Can provide practical advice on project risk assessments, QSE plans, high-risk activities, incident management and corrective actions.
Is comfortable conducting site inspections and audits and supporting continuous improvement of QSE performance.
Has the maturity and capability to progressively take on broader leadership and management responsibilities.
Has practical exposure to environmental management in construction and a sound understanding of quality management systems.
Experience and strong understanding within the management of injured workers and the RTW space.
Strong understanding of occupational health exposure and management
Experience
Ideally a minimum of 4–5 years' experience as a QSE professional within the construction industry.
Previous experience supporting multiple projects or geographically dispersed operations would be advantageous.
Qualifications and training
Minimum
Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety as a minimum.
Preferred, a degree or higher qualification in WHS, safety or a related discipline.
Current First Aid and CPR training.
Mental Health First Aid training.
Formal incident investigation training, such as ICAM or equivalent.
RTW coordinator training
Desirable additional qualifications / competencies:
Relevant High Risk Work Licences.
Confined space training and related high-risk activity competencies.
Environmental management training or qualifications.
Quality management training or qualifications.
Internal or lead auditor certification, particularly relevant to integrated management systems.
Familiarity with quality, safety and environmental management systems and ISO-based frameworks would be beneficial.
Exposure to FSC accreditation and systems auditing.
