About this role
Our client, a company in the Crop Science and Seed Processing industry, is seeking a qualified Quality Analyst Intern with potential to grow with the team. Working with the production and supply chain teams, the successful candidate will be involved in hands on activities such as planting, sample collection, and quality observation and will interact with regulators and third-party labs. Training will be provided for lab work and data analysis.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for Sample intake, Germination, moisture content, and physical purity Laboratories.
- Responsible for all physiological quality testing in the lab including new seeds or as specified by business needs.
- Testing according to ISTA rules and following QMS system for the laboratory.
- Responsible for quality testing activities related to sampling-fresh, returns and carryovers seeds, seed testing, results analysis and product placement for seed businesses.
- Participate in seed sample shipment and testing processes for external lab testing including to South Africa and government testing and communicate results to the stakeholders within required TAT.
- Establish, manage, and evaluate grow-out trials for parental lines, breeder seed, foundation seed, and certified seed (3rd party processing samples); analyze growout results and provide recommendations for quality improvement.
- Collaborate with Production, Research, Supply Chain and Commercial teams to achieve quality objectives.
- Ensure all relevant information is supplied timeously and accurately.
- Assist the Technical coordinator to ensure total quality according to customer needs.
- Participates in maintaining all external government certifications (seed sampling and testing) and secure lab authorization by the government.
- Collaborating with planning, production, manufacturing, customer care and quality systems (CAPA culture improvement in the lab).
- Work with Product Quality in complaint handling and investigation for timely and accurate resolution and reporting ensuring best customer experience.
Requirements
- Diploma/Degree in Agriculture, Seed Technology, Science Laboratory Technology or relevant field.
- Reasonable knowledge and practical experience with ISO and GLP (Good Laboratory Practice)
- Certified seed inspector/ sampler or Analyst will be added advantage
- Knowledge of both Seed Physiology and Seed Genetics.
- Related Job experience /qualification
- Organizational (Planning skills) and Technical and Analytical skills
- Reliable and disciplined
- Able to manage challenges and handle work pressure well
