Quality Assurance Tester

OpsFi is a growing, boutique accounting and advisory firm servicing high growth clients in the tech industry and our offices are based in Bree Street, Cape Town.

We have specific openings for fully remote roles (within South Africa) and roles based in Cape Town to build a greater hybrid office presence (where we will expect a certain amount of office days per month for the Cape Town team).

Our offshore client is an InsurTech firm based in California in the United States leveraging modern software platforms, AI risk modelling, and state-of-the-art hardware engineering to provide next-generation insurance solutions for B2C and B2B customers in the United States.

We are looking to recruit a QA Tester to join their offshore division, that will work exclusively for their Engineering team (i.e. fully integrated into their team and workflows). You would work remotely from South Africa with a combination of SA & US-based teams. This is an exciting opportunity to grow experience in international markets and work alongside a dynamic team who are building out exciting products in the insurance and tech space.

Key Responsibilities:

In this role, you will execute rigorous quality testing processes and maintain high structural standards across all web platforms and integrated tools. Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Quality Assurance & Testing (QA): Leading comprehensive manual and system testing processes for our web platforms and features, identifying bugs, glitches, and user experience flaws.
• Requirements Analysis: Strong ability to dissect complex business logic and UI/UX design requirements, translating them into airtight test cases and technical documentation.
• Technical Testing Skills: Proven experience with API testing (e.g., Postman), regression testing, integration testing, and cross-browser/mobile web application testing.
• Mindset: Hyper-focused on detail, structural quality, and smooth integration during early coding stages to catch bugs before they hit production.
• Requirements Mapping & Logic: Reviewing business requirements and tech specs to understand how features should work, then designing clear test cases to ensure technical alignment.
• Bug Tracking & Reporting: Providing expert oversight for defect logging and tracking processes, ensuring accuracy, clear documentation, and swift resolution with the development team.
• Technical Process Optimisation: Proactively identifying manual bottlenecks in our internal tech stack and recommending ways to optimise system workflows.
• Ad Hoc Technical Support: Delivering insightful, tailored technical support and troubleshooting to address unique, complex system and operational challenges.

Requirements

• Experience: 3–5 years of hands-on experience in software QA testing, technical support, or digital system configuration.
• Technical Skills: Proven experience with manual testing, API testing (e.g., Postman), regression testing, and browser/mobile application testing.
• Core Competencies: Strong understanding of digital system logic, web platform functionality, and database/tool integrations.
• Mindset: Hyper-focused on detail, structural quality, and catching edge-case bugs early in the release cycle. Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience/bootcamp background.
