Kumba Iron Ore
We produce high-grade iron ore, the key component in steel widely used in construction and manufacturing across the world. Our activities include all aspects – exploration; mining; processing and blending; shipping; marketing and selling. In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Rosebank, Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.
As Quality Officer (6 Months Fixed Term Contract) your responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Consistently apply safety and health principles in all team interactions and take personal responsibility for the safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities.
Inspections:
- Conduct inspections to ensure that the products are as per the design.
- Process monitoring during construction, inspections on measurements, and adherence to the standard regulations.
- Ensure that quality material is used.
- Factory inspection to determine if the product fits the design.
- Fits the design for the specification.
Governance and Procedures:
- Ensure quality of end product through safety and health operational governance and adherence to procedures.
Reporting all quality issues:
- Qualified data on performance and measurement against set indicators plan.
This role is in Projects (P&D) department on a Band 7 (C4) level reporting to the Section Manager Quality Management.
Qualifications
- Grade 12/N3 Technical (Technical Matric)
- Relevant Civil Engineering qualification at NQF Level 5
- Civil Engineering related qualification on a NQF6 (advantageous)
- SA Drivers Licence
Technical Knowledge
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in quality management in civil engineering.
- Key value drivers within the discipline's value chain and interdependence of key levers.
- Principles of how operational processes are classified according to the Operating Model with a focus on Work Management.
- Quality Management principles and real-time problem-solving tools and techniques.
- Business acumen and commercial drivers of discipline schedule.
- Basic financial metrics.
- Operational Risk management techniques and critical controls.
- Safety, health and environment, legislative, statutory, and regulatory requirements.
