Radial Boom Derrick (RBD) Operator

ABOUT THIS CAREER OPPORTUNITY

An RBD (Radial Boom Digger/Derrick) Operator is responsible for operating specialized heavy machinery to excavate, lift, and position materials in construction and utility projects. As an RBD Operator, you will ensure safe and efficient equipment handling while adhering to project specifications and regulatory standards.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Operate the equipment in a safe and appropriate manner
• Fuel and grease equipment to maintain safe and optimal operation
• Be able and willing to operate other pieces of equipment such as skid steer, mini hoe etc. as required
• Perform pre-trip and hazard assessment checks on equipment and job site
• Execute daily tasks to meet productivity requirement in the field
• Must have the ability of hauling trailers Ex: Pole trailer, flat deck trailer
• Reads and interprets Ground Disturbance Permits/Locates
• Full understanding of the daily work scope safety and environmental requirements
• Must have the ability to work independently
• Assist crews with other physical tasks as required

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• High School diploma

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• 4-5 years plus experience in operating this equipment

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to comply with company standard practices and procedures as it applies to field assignments
• Travel to work sites outside of Calgary may be required from time to time, as well as overtime and night shift work
• Valid Alberta Driver’s License (Class 1 or 3 License) with clean driver’s abstract
• Ground Disturbance II Certification
• Fall Protection Certification
• CSTS with WHMIS
• Standard First Aid
