Leads the implementation of Responsible AI (RAI) frameworks and practices across AI/ML systems, ensuring ethical AI deployment, bias mitigation, and compliance with emerging AI governance standards. Opportunity to work on real-world projects that directly impact warfighter capabilities and mission success. Help write the policy that will influence how the department tests and evaluates AI across the joint force.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement RAI frameworks for bias detection, fairness, and explainability
  • Develop automated testing pipelines for AI model validation and monitoring
  • Create governance processes for AI model lifecycle management
  • Implement model interpretability and explainability solutions
  • Establish metrics and monitoring systems for RAI compliance
  • Lead cross-functional teams in RAI best practices adoption
  • Develop training materials and documentation for RAI implementation
  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams on AI regulatory requirements
  • Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering with focus on responsible AI practices
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with ability to obtain CI Polygraph
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field preferred
  • Expertise in fairness metrics, bias detection, and model interpretability techniques
  • Experience with RAI frameworks (Fairlearn, AI Fairness 360, What-If Tool, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of AI ethics, governance, and regulatory landscape
  • Proven track record of leading technical implementations and cross-functional initiatives
  • AWS experience highly preferred but not required
  • Military experience strongly preferred
