Receiving Operator

Description

Job Summary:

The primary duties of a Receiving Shift/Warehouse Worker include, but are not limited to, preparing will call orders, stocking material, and unloading delivery trucks. A Yard/Warehouse Worker will handle all of Valley Irons products.

Essential Functions:

• Pull stock as needed.
• Rotate jobs frequently.
• Inspect and identify material and related documentation as prescribed by the purchase order/sales order.
• Properly color code all product in accordance with company policy
• Unload and load trucks safely and efficiently using company provided equipment in accordance with company procedures.
• Stocking all material on the yard while sorting sold materials
• Maintaining a clean and organized work area (multiple warehouses)
• Examine shipment contents and compare with records to ensure accuracy.
• Expertise in all product lines understanding how it should be stored, handled, packaged, and shipped.
• Communicate with supervisor, clerk, and sales team.
• Comply with all safety guidelines.
• All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

1. Minimum Education Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Minimum Experience Preferred: 2 years of experience in forklift/crane operation.
3. Skills Required:
4. Attention to detail.
5. Understand and be proficient in measurements.
6. Willingness to Learn
7. Excellent communication/organizational skills
8. Excellent knowledge of carbon, stainless and aluminum products
9. Chop saw and torch cutting experience.
10. Able to work in changing work environment daily.
11. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

• Typical Working Conditions:
• Weather dependent position: hot, cold, foggy, windy, dusty, etc. conditions
• May be exposed to chemicals and airborne particles.
• Noise level may vary.
• Fast-paced environment subject to numerous schedule and priority changes and short notice activity
• Equipment Used:
• Forklift, hubtex, overhead cranes, propane torch, chop saw, assorted hand tools, PPE.
• Essential Physical Tasks:
• Mounting and dismounting forklifts
• Standing and walking for long periods of time
• Use their hands to pull material, push material, and stack material.
• Bending
• Lifting over 50lbs
• Maintaining a clean and organized work area
