Recruitment Description:

These positions contribute to providing a safe and enjoyable customer experience at the Kittitas Valley Memorial Pool and Fitness Center.

Lifeguards are responsible for supervising patrons to prevent drownings, accidents, provide rescue, and emergency care as needed. Must have thorough knowledge of safety practices in and around swimming pools, thorough knowledge of lifeguarding techniques, use of equipment, and first aid care. Must be able to communicate with patrons and staff in a positive manner.

Swim Instructors are responsible for promoting the Water Safety programs of the KVMP Center and providing instruction to participants from beginning to advanced swimming techniques.

These are part-time positions with no benefits except for earning paid sick leave. Employees will earn paid sick leave at a rate of one (1) hour for every paid forty (40) hours worked. Employees are eligible to begin using accrued paid sick leave on the ninetieth (90th) calendar day after the commencement of his/her employment.


In accordance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, all new employees will be advised of acceptable documents to verify identity and work authorization, which must be submitted within three (3) days of date of hire. This is a condition of employment with the City of Ellensburg.
