Peninsula Surgery Center, LLC (PSC) is a free-standing surgery center with two operating rooms and one procedure room, open Monday through Friday. Job Duties

  • Performs the circulating nurse’s role and functions following approved operating room procedures to meet the requirements of scheduled procedures
  • Prepare the operating room according to requirements of patient/procedure to be performed
  • Assembles and provides properly functioning equipment, supplies, and instruments before start of procedure
  • Anticipates needs of surgical team and assists anesthesia personnel by supporting patient during administration of anesthesia
  • Reviews patients’ medical records/needs to plan care with other healthcare team members
  • Assists with the proper and safe positioning of the patient and prepares operative site as directed by established procedures
  • Monitors compliance with principles of aseptic technique according to accepted standards

Required Education and License/Certification

  • Associates level degree from an accredited school of nursing required; Bachelor's level preferred
  • Active RN California License
  • Current AHA BLS/ ACLS Certification

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in the operating room at an acute care facility required or two (2) years of recent experience is a fast-paced Outpatient Surgery Center setting (in the last five years); Orthopedic experience preferred.
  • ASC experience preferred
  • Strong ethical and moral character references
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians and with their office personnel, coworkers, and other healthcare facilities in a positive, respectful, and considerate manner
  • Ability to promote favorable facility image with physicians, patients, and general public
  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems
  • Language skills adequate for high-level written, interpersonal, and telephone communication in American English
  • Electronic Medical Record experience; EPIC experience preferred
